Everyone looks forward to Halloween. Nothing could be better then costumes, candy and fun! Especially for kids, big and little, who for one night each year can't wait to Trick-or-Treat and make it their main goal to get dressed up and get enough candy to last them till the next Halloween! Before the Big Night

• Eat a large meal prior to Trick-or-Treating so children don't become hungry during the evening, making them less likely to consume candy before it's checked
• From the very first Halloween, make sure children are directed not to eat any candy until a parent inspects it at home
• Make sure your children can see clearly out of masks
• Children should avoid big shoes and long skirts that might cause them to trip
• If your child trick-or-treats at night make sure to provide a flashlight, glow stick, or put reflective tape on their costume

During the Big Night

• Choose the early hours to go Trick-or-Treating if possible
• Choose to Trick-or-Treat in familiar neighborhoods or malls
• Make sure your children walk, not run, stay on the sidewalks and obey traffic signals
• Always accompany young children to the doors while they Trick-or-Treat, insuring they won't sample candy while the parent isn't looking
• Direct your children to go to well lit houses and to say thank you

After the Big Night

• Closely inspect every piece of candy, discarding anything that is unwrapped, torn or displays tiny pin holes
• Discard anything that is handmade and is not commercially wrapped such as cookies or fruit
• Smell the candy to make sure no foreign substances are present
• For children four and under, remove any choking or allergy hazards, small toys, nuts or any plastic bags.
